The drugs that are covered are listed in the Alberta Health and Wellness Drug Benefit List. Through special authorization, drugs that are not regular benefits may be considered for a specific patient.

How can I get coverage for a drug not listed on the Alberta Health and Wellness Drug Benefit List?
For drugs not on the List your physician must make a special authorization request to Clinical Drug Services and Evaluation. For most drugs the general Drug Special Authorization Form should be used.
